Interesting Airports, New Friends, and Weirdly Flavored Snacks

Our flight from Honolulu to Taiwan was quite long, totaling up to around ten or eleven hours, but it went smoothly. We were all extremely tired but once we saw all the interesting waiting rooms, we were wide awake and ready to explore. Each waiting room had a different theme, ranging from a peaceful garden to a beautiful beach, but my personal favorite was definitely the Hello Kitty themed one!

There was also a mini-playground, recreational area, and television available for the younger kids to use.

Here's a sort-of-group-picture in one of the waiting rooms.

Finally on the plane to Fuzhou, China!

After nearly a day's worth of traveling, we arrived in Fuzhou. We were greeted with a lovely welcoming banner, the Trimbles, and a few Hwa Nan students. Later, we met our older sisters over pizza and got to know each other.

We've finally arrived at our destination!

The dorms were a lot larger than we expected. It seems almost as if we're staying in a hotel!

Today was our first full day in China. We were given an elaborate tour of Hwa Nan Women's College's beautiful campus, and we learned a lot about the history of the school. .

This is the International Faculty House (the place where our dorms are).

These are the students' dorms. There are about six students in each room.

Later on in the afternoon, we visited one of the classes and interacted with the students there. They shared lots of interesting history about Fuzhou and we did the same for Hawaii. Although the language barrier made it a bit difficult for us to talk to each other, they were all very friendly and the time went by really quickly.

Here are some of the students we met today. It was really hectic and everyone was taking pictures, so not everyone was ready for this picture.

There was also a convenience store on campus. All of us bought lots of snacks, and many of them had weird flavors. For example, they sold green tea and cucumber flavored chips. We bought the green tea potato chips and some other snacks in the picture shown below!

The convenience store had a variety of interesting snacks you probably wouldn't be able to find in Hawaii.
