Adventures at WuYi Mountain

As everyone has mentioned before, we took a trip to WuYi Mountain. We stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights. To get there we took a train. It was a 7 hour ride and the first few hours we didn't know what to do and were all bored so we tried sleeping. Near the end of the ride we were all playing cards. We taught Mrs. Zhang-Micco many card games. (She is very good at playing card games!)
We got to our destination very late at night. At the hotel we stayed at you have to stick your room card into a slot to get power. Unfortunately for Nicole and I, our slot thing was loose so our power kept going off. We had to call the teachers to get us help because everything was in simplified Chinese (we are learning traditional).
On the first day we hiked up WuYi mountain!
This was at the 1/2 way point. We had to hike up 848 steps!
Hiking up the mountain was really an adventure for me because I am scared of heights. Also the steps were very small and steep.
These are what the steps look like going up to the trail to hike the mountain. The actual 848 steps were much worse. We also had to hike back down from the mountain. Mrs. Zhang-Micco said we walked about 1,400+ steps in total. All our legs hurt very much.
We also rode a small train!
The food we ate at WuYi mountain was very good! We tried rabbit, pig blood and ginger sugar.
We got to go bamboo river rafting and watch an elaborate show. The show used a lot of lights and the seats rotated so we would move from one stage set to another. Everything was in Chinese again but we understood the main point: tea!
We also did another shorter and smaller hike on the second day. We went through this passage called 'A Thread of Sky'. It was a really narrow passage and it was very dark so we could not see clearly. I actually got separated from the group and while I was waiting for everyone at the end I was approached by a group of Chinese tourists. They all tried asking me things but I could not understand their fast talking and so I just told them that I was from Hawaii and understood a little Chinese (in Chinese of course).
We also had a chance to go shopping at a super market! There were so many snacks we have not seen before so we were all overwhelmed. We bought more food to last us the train ride back to Fuzhou. The train ride back was another 7 hours long. Like the first train ride we played card games. Mrs. Zhang-Micco is really good at slapjack! She kept beating all of us! We also taught her to play Kemps and I was her partner. We won two times!
We were all extremely tired by the time we got our dorms and just crashed.
